CASE STUDY

Delivering expert financial advisory & data analytics.

Since completing his academy training, Dhalham has been delivering first-class data anayltics support to a world-leading professional services firm.

Dhalham works for a renowned professional services company operating in the financial industry. Within the organisation, Dhalham is a member of the Financial Crime Department, with his role revolving around financial advisory and data analytics.

Dhalham’s responsibilities in the team involve tackling complex challenges related to financial data management, analysis, and visualisation. Reporting to the department head, Dhalham plays a crucial role in assisting the client's banking customers in combatting financial crimes effectively.

The Challenge

Upon joining the project, Dhalham was confronted with a significant challenge faced by the client's banking customers.

These institutions were grappling with data management and visualisation, struggling to make sense of vast amounts of financial data and derive meaningful insights from it. The existing processes were cumbersome, inefficient, and lacked the ability to provide real-time data-driven solutions.

The client required a solution that could ingest data from various sources, standardise it, and store it in a structured database for efficient analysis.

Additionally, the client sought a user-friendly tool to create visually appealing and interactive charts that could be easily filtered to extract specific insights.

Interactive Data Visualisation

One of the highlights of Dhalham’s application was its ability to produce aesthetically pleasing and interactive charts.

The Outcome

  1. Increased Efficiency

The application significantly streamlined the data management and analysis process, reducing the time spent on these tasks and enabling more effective decision-making.

  1. Enhanced Data Insights

By visualizing the data through interactive charts, banking clients gained deeper insights into their financial operations, leading to improved risk management and fraud detection.

  1. Cost Savings

The adoption of the Python application led to substantial cost savings for the client's banking customers, as they no longer required expensive licenses for data visualization tools.

  1. Greater Control

The application's flexibility allowed for quick updates and modifications, giving the banking clients greater control over their data analysis processes.

  1. Real-time Monitoring

The real-time filtering feature of the charts allowed for proactive monitoring of financial activities and immediate action in response to potential financial crime.

  1. Positive Impact on Services

The Python application positively impacted how the client's banking customers delivered their financial services, empowering them with data-driven insights to provide better and more secure experiences for their own customers.

“Dhalham has performed technically well in this project – he is able to understand requirements, and then develop an appropriate technical solution. Examples include the creation of test data, an ETL layer, a reporting database, MI visualisation and a data export function.”
